Dent man and dog drown after car crashes into slough
A Dent man and his dog drowned Saturday after the vehicle they were traveling in crashed into a slough near Underwood. Paul Whitman, 35, was traveling north on 310th Avenue, near 240th Street when his 1998 GMC Sonoma pickup truck veered off the road and landed in a slough, according to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office.By: Trisha Marczak, EOT Focus
A Dent man and his dog drowned Saturday after the vehicle they were traveling in crashed into a slough near Underwood.
Paul Whitman, 35, was traveling north on 310th Avenue, near 240th Street when his 1998 GMC Sonoma pickup truck veered off the road and landed in a slough, according to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies discovered the man and his pet around 12:40 a.m. Saturday. Whitman was transported by Ringdahl Ambulance to Lake Region Hospital, where he died.
The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor, according to the sheriff’s office.
