Local law enforcement group honored for making an impact

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - U-S Senator Kent Conrad today honored the successes of a local law enforcement group making an impact on getting criminals off the streets.

U-S Marshal Paul Ward and his High Plains Fugitive Task Force have been honored with a Yes, We Can award. The task force is made up of deputy marshals, Cass County deputies, B-C-I agents and Probation and Parole.

In just 6-months, the task force has arrested 230 violent offenders who were on the run. The Marshal Service announced today, the Grand Forks Police and Sheriff's Department will also begin serving on the task force.

PAUL LANEY - Cass County Sheriff: “We are able to get that US Deputy Marshal status and that allows our guys to travel farther find their bad guy and they go get them. It really works.”

In addition to the 230 arrests, the task force has cleared more than 340-warrants the last 6-months.
