Governor Mark Dayton and Congressman Collin Peterson wanted to find out what people want in permanent flood protection. Some are concerned about the diversion and extending bridges.
An agreement between North Dakota and Minnesota restricts either state from doing anything that will affect the other.
"The first is to talk to Governer Dalrymple and to see if we can begin the discussions and collaborations to see what is possible." Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton said.
"The next thing is finding the money so we can get this road raised, so that's the most immediate issue." Representative Collin Peterson said.
Peterson is working to use the farm bill to fund retention projects.
