Workers adding another foot to levee in LisbonLisbon, ND (WDAY TV) - A week after building up emergency levees, Lisbon is once again taking drastic measures to protect the town from floodwaters.

Workers started adding one more foot of clay to 1.5 miles of levee. The clay is going on low lying areas along the Sheyenne River. This will protect up to a 21 foot crest.
The work will wrap up tomorrow. City leaders say they aren't impressed with having to make dikes even larger.
MORRIE SAXERUD - Lisbon Flood Coordinator: “It's always a concern cause as you go higher, the volumes increase the concern goes right with it. Our dikes are in good shape probably as good as shape as they've ever been and we're confident we can hold it.”
Lisbon has no filled sandbags, but does not expect to need any. If that changes, it can use the 20 thousand Ransom County has on hand.
Lisbon is also closing two bridges on Friday at noon including Highway 27 and Riverside Drive. That will leave only way around town by the Jackson Avenue Bridge. They also ask residents to limit sewer usage.
