Airboats rescue man from a farm near Gardner

Gardner, ND (WDAY TV) - The Cass County Sheriff got a call from a man needing to leave his Farm that was surrounded by water.

Airboats picked up the 86 year old man just east of Gardner. His farm was not in danger, but his wife, who had been staying in Moorhead, was hospitalized this morning so teams from Fish and Wild Life and Valley Water Rescue went to get him.

While this was a relatively easy operation, the number of calls recently from people getting in trouble while boating is upsetting.

PETER FENDT - President Valley Water Rescue: “They're putting themselves in a potential dangerous situation where I might have to go and tell the family that one of their family members has just drowned.”

This is the fifth rescue Fendt has helped with this flood fight.
