Several Cass County roads washed out by overland flooding(WDAY TV) - It may have taken awhile, but overland flooding is now washing out several roads in Cass County. Now many drivers are being forced down alternate routes.
Drivers in rural Cass County are being cautioned, as roads like County Road 20 are beginning to go under.
“It's more than half a foot of water in places.”
Some gutsy drivers with big trucks still pushed through, but water levels on many Cass County Roads are un-passable.
Roads closed currently include:
County Highway 81 from 16 to 49th Street south; Cass County 17 from Cass 10 to Cass 20; and Cass County 16 East of Davenport.
The sheriff’s office says the rising waters were expected, but came up very quickly.
SGT. JUDY TOLLEFSON - Cass County T.O.C.: “There's definitely more water than there was this time yesterday. We've been scratching our heads for the last several days wondering where it is coming from but it is out there. The roads are starting to be covered.”
