Two Hunters Found Dead

Alice, ND (WDAY TV) - 2 more deaths are now associated with this flood. A search and rescue became a search and recovery this morning for 2-men who went missing while beaver hunting.

The Cass County Sheriff's Office identified them as 59-year-old Michael Miller and 69-year-old Dewey Grieve, both of Buffalo. They were reported missing by their families last night after they did not return home from a hunting trip along the Maple River. Their boat was discovered overturned by a Blackhawk helicopter in the middle of the night.

The bodies were discovered shortly after 7 this morning. The two men were hunting beaver yesterday afternoon and reported missing at 9:15 p.m. when they did not return home.

PAUL LANEY - Cass County Sheriff: “My advice is in these rough waters and the conditions they are in right now, is to stay off the water, these were very experienced men and tragedy fell upon them.”

Crews from Valley Water Rescue and the North Dakota State Patrol were also used in the search.
