25 to 35 roads under water in Barnes County

Fingal, ND (WDAY TV) - People living in North Dakota's rural townships are being forced to get creative with their driving routes.

Binghampton township in Barnes County has somewhere between 25 and 35 roads under water. The township surrounds the town of Fingal, about 10 miles south of Tower City.

In '09, homeowners saw 80 spots with water running over roads, and more than 20 culverts washed away. This year, there are a couple of homeowners who are just one more closed road away from being cornered-in.

STEVE PUHR - Clerk, Binghampton Township: “A few years ago we had like a half a dozen of them, but we're hoping this year that everybody can get out but we'll see.”

Township leaders say they're still waiting on FEMA money for culvert repairs from back in 2009.
