FORT YATES, N.D. (AP) - Five people including a baby have been injured in a house explosion in Fort Yates, on the Standing Rock Reservation.

Sioux County Sheriff Frank Landeis (LAN'-dis) says he doesn't know how serious the injuries are, though he says the baby "looked pretty good." He says two of the other victims were airlifted to a Bismarck hospital.

Landeis says officers at the Fort Yates police station heard the blast about 4 a.m. Monday. He says they rushed to the scene and got the people out.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs and the state Fire Marshal's Office are investigating the cause. Landeis says it appears it might have been a propane gas explosion. He says it blew the roof off the one-story home and knocked pictures off the walls of neighboring houses.
