Verizon bringing 4G service to the F-M areaFargo, ND (WDAY TV) - About a month after releasing the iPhone, Verizon Wireless has another big announcement. Broadband internet speeds will become a lot faster for area Verizon users.
Currently Verizon Wireless uses a 3G service in Fargo, however today the company announced it will be bringing its 4G service to the F-M area before the end of the year. Currently Verizon's 4G network is operational in 40 major cities, with the closest being Minneapolis.
The network is 10x faster than Verizon's 3G service.
Karen Smith: “The Great thing about 4G is that it has greater speed and lower latency. So it allows for real-time video, high definition gaming, similar to what you would have with broadband at home.”
Along with Fargo, more than 100 other cities will also be getting the 4G network before the end of the year. Verizon hopes its 4G service will cover its entire network by 2013. Last week, Verizon released it's first 4G compatible Smartphone in the HTC Thunderbolt. Verizon's current iPhone will not be compatible with the 4G service.
