UND hockey team heading to Midwest RegionalGRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — For the first time in three years, the University of North Dakota men's hockey team won't be headed to the East Coast for the NCAA regionals.
The Fighting Sioux will play RPI in the first round of the NCAA tournament in Green Bay, Wis., on Saturday afternoon in the Midwest Regional, which also includes Denver and Western Michigan. The bracket was announced Sunday.
UND beat Denver to win its second straight WCHA tournament title over the weekend. The Sioux head into the NCAA with a 13-game unbeaten streak.
UND is the No. 1 seed in the Midwest Regional. The other top seeds are Yale in the East, Miami of Ohio in the Northeast and Boston College in the West.
