Lifting cancer patients' spirits with 'Bottles of Hope'

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The Roger Maris Cancer center is treating cancer patients with more than just medicine. They're trying to lift spirits with a project called "Bottles of Hope."

These little bottles being decorated with clay are empty heparin bottles, used for chemotherapy. After they're decorated with all sorts of themes, they're given to cancer patients.

Today, staff decorated the bottles. In past, they've had elementary students decorate, and they plan on holding future events to design bottles.

MEGAN JENSEN – Coordinator - Cancer Survivor Program: “The idea is we are going to start making these with the patients when they're in infusion or in the hospital when they have a lot of times on their hands. It's really kind of a relaxing, meditating thing to do.”

"Bottles of Hope" is done at cancer centers across the nation.
