BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Carrington outscored Washburn 26-11 in the second half Thursday to break open a close game en route to a 42-28 first-round win at the North Dakota girls Class B basketball tournament.

Trailing 17-16 at the break, Carrington (21-3) made seven of nine two-point shots and three 3-pointers. It shot 57 percent for the game.

Sierra Rosenau and Emily Thompson led Carrington with 10 points apiece. Thompson added seven rebounds and six assists.

Samantha Schell had 13 points to lead Washburn (21-4), which shot just 27 percent.
