Bemidji St. beats Nebraska-Omaha 4-2

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Dan Bakala made 46 saves Friday, helping Bemidji State beat Nebraska-Omaha 4-2 in the first Western Collegiate Hockey Association playoff game for both teams.

Nebraska-Omaha (21-14-2) put 48 shots on goal while allowing Bemidji State (13-17-5) just 17 shots. But Bakala was up to the task, stopping 20 shots in the second period alone.

Bemidji State took a 2-0 lead on goals by Jordan George and Ian Lowe in the second period.

Nebraska-Omaha tied it on goals by Ryan Walters and Terry Broadhurst, but the Beavers answered with goals by Jamie MacQueen and Matt Read.

John Faulkner made 13 saves for the Mavericks, who need a win on Saturday to extend the best-of-three series to Sunday.
