Vikings take their 16-game win streak to the playoffs

Pelican Rapids, Minn. (WDAY Sports) - There isn't a hotter team going than the Pelican Rapids Vikings. Brad Strand's crew is on a 16-game winning streak, as they prepare to begin playoff action this week.

Pelican Rapids finished the regular season 22-and-4 and tied for the Heart O'Lakes conference title with a 13-and-1 mark. What makes the Vikings' season even more impressive is they've done it with just 2 seniors. In fact, their starting lineup is four juniors and a freshman.

Brad Strand - Pelican Rapids Head Coach: “I think we're a little ahead of where I thought we'd be. We've put together a nice string of wins. It maybe goes back to a couple of overtime wins over Barnesville and Perham that maybe jump started our belief in ourselves. Think that's a big part of it.”

Casey Bruggeman - Pelican Rapids Jr. Guard: “I think our strength is our bigs. We've got 6-6 guy, 6-5 and 6-5 so we center our offense around them. Try to get post touches and our guards, we get a lot of open shots off kick outs.”
