He says dining options are limited in small towns, and while bars may offer food, by law, kids can't join their parents for dinner.

He proposes allowing kids in bars to eat as long as they are with a person over 21. They can only be in the tavern during the hours food is served, but not past 10 p.m.

REP. JON NELSON - (R) Rugby: “If a father or mother decides they don't want their children in that setting, they have ability to prevent that from happening."

JANE VANGGUESS FRISCH - Opposes Bill: “A minor could be eating a meal with a friend over 21 and those friends could easily share their alcoholic beverage with friend that's under the age."

Nelson says the bill is mainly intended for rural areas in North Dakota.
