BARNESVILLE, Minn. – An autopsy will be performed on the part-owner of a Barnesville bus company who was found dead Monday after getting trapped under a garage door at the business, Police Chief Dean Ernst said.

Stephen Peterson, 51, of Barnesville, was found at about 1:15 p.m. by his brother, who’d gone looking for him when family members couldn’t reach him, Ernst said.

Peterson apparently got caught under the large garage door as it was closing, Ernst said, adding no one else was around at the time. It didn’t appear that the door had malfunctioned, and police are treating the death as an accident, he said.

Peterson was part-owner of Barnesville Bus Co., which contracts with the school district for transportation services.

His body was sent to the Ramsey County medical examiner for an autopsy, Ernst said.
