Grafton beats New Town 52-34

MINOT, N.D. (AP) — Defense again paved the way for Grafton as it defeated third-ranked New Town 52-34 on Friday in the semifinals of the North Dakota boys Class B basketball tournament.

MINOT, N.D. (AP) — Defense again paved the way for Grafton as it defeated third-ranked New Town 52-34 on Friday in the semifinals of the North Dakota boys Class B basketball tournament.

Jakeb Hanson scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Spoilers (21-5). Cody Dravland added 14 points as Grafton shot 49 percent from the field.

Grafton has held all seven of its postseason opponents under 50 points. The Spoilers held the Eagles to 30 percent shooting and forced 19 turnovers.

Mike Young Bird led New Town (24-2) with 20 points and Preston Smith finished with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
