LINO LAKES, Minn. (AP) — Authorities say a Lino Lakes man died and a woman from Circle Pines was injured when their snowmobile crashed into a tree along the shore of an Anoka County lake early Thursday.
Witnesses say 25-year-old John Brandenburger had given his helmet to the woman after they left a local bar and decided to travel by snowmobile to a home in Lino Lakes. Brandenburger was driving the snowmobile when it crashed along the Reshanau Lake shoreline about 1:30 a.m.
Authorities say 25-year-old Adrianne Knotz was taken to Regions Hospital with multiple fractures, but is expected to recover from her injuries. Witnesses told investigators Brandenburger had been drinking before they got on the snowmobile, but his blood alcohol level has not been determined.
