MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Warroad senior forward Karley Sylvester has been named Minnesota's Ms. Hockey.
Sylvester won the 16th annual award presented by the Let's Play Hockey newspaper on Sunday. The award goes to the top girls' high school hockey player in Minnesota, based on academics, community and extracurricular activities, citizenship, coachability and on-ice performance.
Sylvester helped the Warriors to a 27-3-0 record and their second consecutive state championship. She plans to play college hockey for Wisconsin.
The other finalists were forwards Rachael Bona, of Coon Rapids; Taylor Kuehl, of Mound Westonka; Mehan Lorence, of Irondale; and defenseman Rachel Ramsey, of Minnetonka.
Julie Friend, of Minnetonka, was named the Let's Play Hockey senior goalie of the year.
