Competing for a title while 8-months pregnantFargo, ND (WDAY Sports) - When you talk to Michelle Wagner, she doesn't get what all the fuss is about. She's just competing in the sport she loves, curling, but what's special about Wagner is the fact she's not letting anything get in her way of chasing her dream.

“Being pregnant, it seems that everyone wants to know about that, but whatever can bring more people to the sport that's a good thing.”
People have been drawn to Michelle Wagner's story all week. Wagner is one of ten teams that are trying to qualify for the world championships, an impressive accomplishment, made even more impressive that she's competing while she's 8 months pregnant.
“First thing went thru my mind was not good timing for nationals. I was a little nervous that I could not be curling at all. My teammates have been very supportive thru whole thing.”
One of those teammates is the skip of the squad, Mandan native Nicole Reiser, who has to keep on eye on Wagner's playing time.
“She would love to play every game. It is hard for her to sit and watch, but it is baby first and curling a close second.”
“Take it a little easier on sweeping, that's easy to say, but when you hear the yelling at you to sweep, you just for it.”
And that's exactly what Wagner and her team is doing, looking for that berth in the world championships, even though Michelle can't make the trip to Denmark.
“It's bittersweet. I would be happy to be home with my baby, but love to be there.”
Michelle's son is due in late march. Her team entered tonight's competition at 4-4 in the round robin.
