Lamoure, N.D. (AP) — Officials are investigating the cause of a fire at the LaMoure Public School.

Fire Chief Henry Johnson told the Jamestown Sun that 44 firefighters from the LaMoure, Edgeley, Oakes and Marion fire departments responded to the Friday night blaze.

The fire started in the family and consumer sciences classroom and did not spread to other rooms. No injuries were reported.

Superintendent Mitch Carlson says a teacher who was in the building at the time noticed smoke and called 911.

Fire crews were working Saturday to rid the building of the smoke smell,

Carlson says he'll decide on Sunday whether to cancel Monday's classes.

LaMoure is about 60 miles southeast of Jamestown.
