The Moorhead hockey team is practicing outside which they did today for the first time, in preps for Hockey Day in Minnesota on Saturday.

This has been the crown jewel of the Spuds’ schedule since June, and now with game day two days away, emotions and adrenaline is running high.

Dave Morinville - Spuds Head Coach: “You look at the ice and I've been out here a couple times before. It's a little bit smaller so I mean it'll be a little bit more packed in atmosphere. So the game is gonna be a little tighter, it's not gonna be a wide open one. A lot play in the neutral zone because there isn't that much neutral zone in here so it might be more of a dump and chase game so the better you fore-check the better you do.”

Brendan Johnson - Spuds Sr. Forward: “It's really nice out here. The ice is really nice. It's pretty small, but it is gonna be a fun day on Saturday. We don't wanna be crazy, but it's gonna be exciting. We're gonna have the adrenaline going and it's gonna be a really good day. It's gonna be an awesome crowd out here and it's gonna be a fun day.”

The Spuds face number one ranked Hill-Murray Saturday at 1:30, Roseau and Wayzata go at 10 am.
