BAXTER, Minn. (AP) — It was the biggest stage ever for a dance costume designer from Minnesota.
The lighted, silver-hooded unitard costume wore by dancers backing up the Black Eyed Peas in the Super Bowl halftime show were designed and made by Just For Kix in the small Crow Wing County community of Baxter.
Ali Clough says they had to create a sample costume before getting the Super Bowl gig. Super Bowl organizers added more features to the nearly 400 costumes, including Velcro and lights.
Ali and her mother, Cindy Clough, traveled to Texas to help with costumes during the Super Bowl performance. Cindy tells the Brainerd Daily Dispatch it took about 500 people to move the halftime show stage. She says 30 bus caravans with police escorts transported performers to the stadium.
