Bill to make the lady bug the state insect gets recommendation from committee

(WDAY TV) - Some updates for you from the North Dakota Legislature. A bill to make the lady bug the state insect is getting the "do pass" recommendation from a committee.

A group of 2nd graders from Kenmare made its pitch to lawmakers more than a week ago. They sold the merits of the lady bug, dressed the part, and made up a song to make their case.

The Senate killed a bill today that would have required at least three feet between vehicles and bicycles on the road. Opponents questioned how enforceable the proposal would be.

An amended bill for school districts to follow a concussion management program also has a do-pass recommendation. The bill aims to better protect student athletes.

A bill that would allow businesses to seize fake IDs and turn them over to law enforcement also has a do-pass recommendation.

These bills will now move to full votes on the floor.
