Fargo police campaign targets texting driversFARGO, N.D. (AP) — The Fargo Police Department is starting a television campaign aimed at drivers who text while operating a vehicle.
Police Chief Keith Ternes (TUR'-nuhs) said it will run through early March and be paid with $8,000 from the department's crime prevention budget.
The Forum reported that the TV spot shows a driver texting as a boy chases a ball onto the street in front of the vehicle.
Ternes said police don't know how many crashes or citations are linked to texting. He said research shows texting while driving is dangerous.
