New product takes the danger out of clearing snow off of your roof

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Just as our weather begins its high and low swings, there's a new product to prevent your roof from the weight of winter. These little pucks may be the ticket to getting ice dams off of your roof. The best part is you don't have to climb up there yourself to do it.

While standing safely on the ground you just throw the pucks up on top of the roof. It's designed to then melt away a channel to drain ice dams. The product is called Roof Melt.

This year is the first time the Home Depot has carried it. Managers say it was successful in the Minneapolis store so they brought it to Fargo.

"It's way easier than getting a roof rake and going up on your roof. A lot safer so that's what everyone who has come in has been looking for."

Roof Melt has turned out to be the stores hot new item. The first shipment sold out in a couple of days. They are now fully stocked. The pucks are bio-degradable.
