Moorhead, Minn. (WDAY TV) - Layoffs could be coming for employees at MSUM. President Edna Szymanski says budget cuts the university is facing may require that long-term employees be laid-off.

There won't be a clearer picture of the budget until this summer, after the legislature had adjourned and fall enrollment estimates are available. The university is anticipating a budget decrease of between $5.8 and $7.5 million dollars. That's up to 11-percent of the university's budget.

MSUM has already reduced personnel by 85 long-term employees through hiring restrictions, early retirement incentives, and some reorganization.
