BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota's congressional delegation says the federal government is awarding a total of nearly $1.7 million in grants to help combat homelessness in North Dakota.

Sens. Kent Conrad and John Hoeven and Rep. Rick Berg say the money from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is going to organizations and government agencies across the state.

The grants are through a program that helps the homeless gain more control over their lives and one that provides rental assistance for homeless people with disabilities.
