Perham athlete rushed to the hospital after collapsing during a basketball game

Glyndon, Minn. (WDAY TV) - A Perham High School Basketball player collapsed on the court during a game in Glyndon. He was rushed to the hospital. Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton's athletic director says the student is Zach Gabbard, a junior. It happened about 8 minutes into the Varsity game at DGF. Other players claim they heard Gabbard saying that he couldn't see. He then yelled out he couldn't see and fell to the floor.

Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton's athletic director says the student is Zach Gabbard, a junior. It happened about 8 minutes into the Varsity game at DGF. Other players claim they heard Gabbard saying that he couldn't see. He then yelled out he couldn't see and fell to the floor.

An Emergency room nurse who was at the game rushed to Gabbard who wasn't breathing and didn't have a heartbeat. The gym was equipped with a defibrillator which they used until the ambulance crew arrived.

They were still doing chest compressions as he left. Perham's head coach says Gabbard, who was one of the teams leading scorers, has no prior medical history.

The boy's father was at the game which was called after the incident. Gabbard is at Sanford tonight. No word on sis condition
