The city announced it received two million dollars more to buyout 18 flood homes along the Red River before this spring.
Homeowners will need to close on the buyout within the next 30-to-40 days. Mayor Mark Voxland said speed is a necessity because they need to begin environmental testing.
MARK VOXLANDMoorhead Mayor: “These are houses that use a lot of sandbags and if we could have them out of the way, those are houses we don't have to sandbag, they are houses that are out of harms way.”
