Rochester, Minn. (WDAY TV) - A Rochester, Minnesota firefighter on the job for only two weeks rescued a man after his car plunged into a river earlier this week.By: WDAY Staff Reports, WDAY
Firefighter Kathryn Briggs rescued the 41-year-old man after his car went over an embankment, crashing into the Zumbro River. Briggs was a navy rescue swimmer for five years, training that definitely made a difference.
KATHRYN BRIGGSRochester Firefighter: "In my five years I have never had a live rescue and five days working for Rochester fire, I had a water rescue. So it’s kind of ironic how that works out."
Police say slick roads contributed to the accident. The driver was not hurt.
