Fargo, ND (WDAY-TV) -- Fargo North High School students got a chance to play Santa Wednesday afternoon.

The construction technology class has been working the last several weeks to help build some new steps for a North Fargo homeowner battling Multiple Sclerosis.

The students installed the steps just hours before they started their long Christmas vacation, bringing an early Christmas gift to 68-year-old Ken Heinisch's home.

The students decided to take on the task after learning that Ken’s steps were so bad he could hardly get up and down them.

The group worked to raise money and come up with a plan to get the new steps in place.

Walmart donated money and Armstrong Concrete helped to bring in precast steps.

The student locked down the railing that will help Ken, but the students say it’s more than just learning about the construction trade.

Students say they’re learning what a big difference a simple, random act of kindness can make.
