MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - A Minneapolis police officer whose deceased
teenage daughter was a tissue donor will get the chance to honor
her daughter's life and contribution at the Tournament of Roses
Parade in Pasadena.
Officer Catherine Casey will be one of 30 people to ride the
Donate Life float to celebrate tissue donors worldwide. Casey's
trip is sponsored by RTI Donor Services, one of more than 60 organ
and tissue recovery organizations around the country supporting the
float.
Casey's daughter, Deanna Casey, was killed at age 16 in a car
accident caused by an impaired driver. The Casey family decided to
donate her tissue upon learning it was an option.
The Rose Parade is on New Year's Day.
