A Harvey, N.D., man who pleaded guilty last month in Clay County District Court to a kidnapping charge was sentenced Monday to 20 years of probation.
Jason Lee Roerick, 22, was one of two men accused in a home invasion at a rural Sabin home in which a man was bound and tied to a chair.
He pleaded guilty Nov. 15 to one count of kidnapping. Five other felonies linked to the Sept. 23, 2009, incident were dismissed in a plea deal.
Roerick was sentenced to a year and nine months in state prison, but that term was suspended for the 20 years he’s ordered to serve on supervised probation.
The co-defendant, Joseph Michael Weninger, 26, was sentenced in April to two years and 10 months in state prison.
