Airport construction project wraps up in Wahpeton
Wahpeton, ND (WDAY TV) - From asphalt to concrete, Harry Stern Airport in Wahpeton finally has a working runway again.By: WDAY Staff Reports, WDAY
After receiving 4-million-dollars in stimulus money, the airport began the project back in May. They received an extra 1-million from the F-A-A.
The airport also added drainage areas alongside the runway. Airport officials say most of the plane traffic they receive is from local businesses and government officials.
CINDY SCHREIBER-BECKAirport Manager: “I firmly believe that the airport is essential for economic development, not only for Wahpeton and Breckenridge, but for the surrounding region.”
Officials say at least 10 planes have already used the runway since it opened last Friday.
