Mountain lions kill ponies near Rapid City
RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - South Dakota wildlife officials say mountain lions killed two ponies at a residence northwest of Rapid City.
RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - South Dakota wildlife officials say mountain lions killed two ponies at a residence northwest of Rapid City.
Owner Susan Goodwin found the dead miniature Shetland ponies early Monday in a paddock next to her house. Josh Brainard with the state Game, Fish and Parks Department tells KEVN-TV that authorities found lion tracks, and the ponies had bite marks.
The agency is bringing dogs to the area to try to find the lions responsible. One pony survived the attack. Goodwin says she's brought it inside her garage to keep it protected.
