BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — John Hoeven is resigning as North Dakota's governor Tuesday, and he'll give a goodbye speech to the Legislature.
Hoeven says he and first lady Mikey Hoeven want to say thank you to North Dakotans for giving them a chance at public service.
Hoeven says he'll also talk about the importance of continuing to grow and diversify North Dakota's economy.
Hoeven takes office as a U.S. senator next month. Lt. Gov. Jack Dalrymple will be sworn in as governor Tuesday, and former North Dakota U.S. attorney Drew Wrigley will take Dalrymple's place as second-in-command.
The Legislature is holding its organizational session this week to prepare for the regular session in 2011. A Capitol reception is planned after Hoeven's speech.
