At a kick-off event tonight at Catalyst Medical Center, a 30-thousand dollar gift from Ron and Marlene Hoffart and 5-thousand dollars from State Bank and Trust.

Women, who have a high school diploma or G-E-D and children under the age of 4, can apply. The Minneapolis-based program helps them go to college, provides housing and requires they work a part-time job, while going to school.

"We sometimes think we're immune to problems of homelessness and hungry and so that's kind of the motivation behind this whole thing is to allow those people who have those kinds of issues to overcome them."

Program members hope to have women start schooling in 20-12.
