Change-of-plea hearing set for 93-year-old ND
DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (AP) — A 93-year-old North Dakota woman involved in a car-motorcycle crash that killed a pregnant woman and seriously injured two men is expected to plead guilty to misdemeanor driving offenses related to an August traffic stop.
A change -of-plea hearing is scheduled Tuesday in Devils Lake for Faith Mitzel of Oberon.
Prosecutor Lonnie Olson tells the Grand Forks Herald that he plans to ask for the maximum sentence of 60 days in jail. Mitzel's attorney has said he's intent on keeping her out of jail.
Mitzel was fined $20 for driving on the wrong side of the road but not criminally charged in the May crash. Her license was suspended, and in August she was cited for driving without a license or insurance.
