Democratic Sen. Katie Sieben (SEE'-ben) of Newport outlines a proposal to classify synthetic pot as a prohibited drug at a Capitol news conference Wednesday. She will be joined by law enforcement officers and a Hastings resident whose son was hospitalized after smoking synthetic marijuana.

Fake marijuana called "Spice" or "K2" contains herbs and chemical compounds that can produce risky side effects such as heart palpitations, panic attacks and delusions.
