Moorhead, MN (WDAY-TV) -- A Moorhead man is facing charges after a chase with police early Wednesday morning.

Moorhead Police say they tried to stop 25-year-old Mitchell Jackson for not wearing his seatbelt at 1:00 am, when Jackson fled.

He got onto the BNSF railroad tracks between Main and Center Avenue, driving down the tracks for about 300 feet.

Officers say when Jackson got off the tracks, his 2002 Ford Taurus got stuck in the snow and he ran away on foot.

Police arrested Jackson after a short foot chase.

While he was on the tracks, Jackson's vehicle hit a switching mechanism and a control box, causing damage and activating the crossing signals on 14th Street.

Jackson is facing charges of DWI, fleeing, reckless driving, possession of drug paraphernalia and not wearing a seatbelt.
