BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The Bismarck Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol has raised enough money to place about 1,600 wreaths at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery south of Mandan.

The project is part of an effort known as Wreaths Across America.

Lt. Col. Sean Johnson tells The Bismarck Tribune that the squadron is hoping to raise enough money for as many as 3,500 wreaths by the end of the week. A wreath sponsorship costs $15.

The CAP will sponsor a wreath-placing ceremony on Dec. 11.
