No discipline for ND abortion doc over license

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — The North Dakota Board of Medical Examiners will not discipline a practicing abortion doctor whose medical license expired.

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — The North Dakota Board of Medical Examiners will not discipline a practicing abortion doctor whose medical license expired.

The Fargo Forum reports that the board decided Friday not to pursue disciplinary action against Lori Thorndike, who practices at the Red River Women's Clinic in Fargo.

Earlier in the week, a Cass County prosecutor announced Thorndike would not face criminal charges. State's Attorney Birch Burdick said there's no evidence that Thorndike was unfit to practice medicine. He said her license has since been renewed, and she also has active medical licenses in Colorado and South Dakota.

Burdick said the lapsing of the doctor's North Dakota license "appears to have been an administrative oversight."
