Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - It may still be 44 days away, but students at Oak Grove are already thinking about Christmas, more importantly helping others in need.

Today they rolled up their sleeves and filled 100 shoe boxes with toys, necessities, and toiletries. After today, these boxes will be packed and shipped overseas to children around the globe as part of Operation Christmas Child.

Students say it's a fun project and a great way to brighten the holidays for kids in need.

“Basically we were just packing boxes for children all over the world that don't get presets for Christmas.”

Since it started 17 years ago, shoe box gifts have been sent to 77 million boys and girls in more than 130 countries.
