Clay County authorities fire that destroyed 6 buildings near Felton

Felton, Minn. (WDAY TV) - Authorities in Clay County are investigating a fire that destroyed 6 buildings on an abandoned farmstead. Crews were called to the fire just before 7-last night, no one was injured. The cause is unknown, but investigators are calling the fire suspicious and it could be arson.

Nearly 24-hours after authorities arrived at the Olek farmstead, parts of the fire still burn and much of what is on the property is destroyed. The farmstead is a few miles Northwest of Felton. Hay bales, a farm house, barn and 4 out buildings are gone.

Authorities are calling the fire suspicious because no burning permits were issued in the area which leads them to believe it was started by a spark from an illegal burn, or an arsonist. No one was injured in the fire. The damage is estimated in the tens of thousands of dollars.

The Clay County Sheriff's department is asking anyone to come forward if they were burning anything in the area around 6 o'clock last night or if you have any information regarding the fire.
