Gina Gladue and Rachel Torgerson both go to Clara Barton-Hawthorne Elementary. Every October the school collects cash and loose change donations for its "Caring Coins" fundraiser.

Today the two are presenting a check for more than $1,000 dollars to the principal at Kennedy Elementary. They wanted to give it to the cross town school because that's where victims from the Galleria Fire attend.

“It just feels like we changed something. It feels like we've helped the community, a lot.”

Kennedy's principal says the money will be given out through gift cards to the Galleria families who have children at Kennedy.
