SAN DIEGO (AP) — Winter X Games star Levi LaVallee will attempt to prove that he doesn't need snow to break the world record for the longest snowmobile jump.

The Minnesota native will make his jump on ramps set up at Embarcadero Marina Park on San Diego Bay on Dec. 31 in the latest edition of the "Red Bull: New Year. No Limits." daredevil series.

LaVallee will have to clear a 300-foot water gap in his attempt to break Paul Thacker's record of 301 feet.

The only white in sight will be some fake snow sprayed on the landing ramp to help his 450-pound snowmobile hook in better. And he'd better bring spare parts, because the nearest Polaris shop is some 230 miles away in Bakersfield.

His jump will be shown live on ESPN.
