HAZEN, N.D. (AP) — Authorities say a Hazen man died from a heart attack after his boat capsized in the Missouri River Tailrace below Garrison Dam.
Detective Mark Schmitt with the Mercer County Sheriff's Department says 58-year-old Lloyd Jones died Saturday.
Schmitt tells The Bismarck Tribune that a shore fisherman notified authorities just before midday after hearing a call for help.
Schmitt says another boater rescued Jones and his wife from the water but Jones suffered a heart attack on the way to a boat ramp. He was pronounced dead at a Hazen hospital. His wife was treated and released.
