ND woman pleads guilty to stealing from tribe
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A Devils Lake woman has pleaded guilty to stealing from the Spirit Lake tribe.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A Devils Lake woman has pleaded guilty to stealing from the Spirit Lake tribe.
U.S. Attorney Timothy Purdon says 42-year-old Kimberly Carlson is to be sentenced next Jan. 11 on embezzlement and theft charges. She faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Authorities say Carlson took money and gift cards from the Spirit Lake Office of Victim Assistance in Fort Totten, and also misused travel expenses. Purdon says the total loss exceeded $1,000.
